Hospice Georgian Triangle

Annual General Meeting and Celebration of Volunteers June 21, 2012

It was a night to remember!

Hospice Georgian Triangle’s 16th Annual Fundraising Dinner was held on October 20th, 2010 at The Bear Estate of Cranberry Resort.

The silent auction kept a buzz of excitement as guests increased their bids for the wonderful items that were donated.

Money raised from the silent auction totaled $2780.00

Our wonderful M.C. Walter Barclay kept the evening moving right on schedule with a few jokes to keep the mood light.

Annual Dinner

Speeches by Rebecca Wall, Sharon Brownrigg and acceptance of the June Callwood award for an exceptional volunteer by Rob Fleming brought warmth and meaning to the evening.

An excellent meal with good service contributed to the success of this event.

The very talented Dean Hollin entertained us with the life story and songs of the great Johnny Mercer.

In total this event raised over $26,000.00 for Hospice Georgian Triangle. This dinner as always, is the perfect way to enjoy an evening out with friends, and meet new ones, while supporting all the services that Hospice Georgian Triangle provides to our community.

Linda Davis - CEO CGMH

The Annual General Meeting was well attended this year. Starting with a Meet & Greet with HGT’s active volunteers, it progressed to opening remarks by Co-Chairs Ron Emo and Rebecca Wall. Linda Davis, CEO from Collingwood General and Marine Hospital brought greetings from her Board and Committees, reiterating CGMH’s support for a hospice residential home in the South Georgian Bay area.

Bud and Sue Christensen, representing the Collingwood Cinema Club were presented with a plaque thanking the CCC for their tremendous financial support of HGT’s respite suite.

The contributions help provide much needed supplies, meals and other supports for those in community suffering life-threatening illness and who need 1 – 2 week respite stays in the respite suites.

After the reading of Annual Reports, Motions for the adoption of 2009 AGM minutes, Financial report acceptance, Appointment of Auditors and then Adjournment were passed. HGT’s keynote speaker – Marjori Medley – spoke movingly of what it takes to be a volunteer. It was a wonderfully humorous talk that proceeded the recognition of 3, 5, 10, and 15 year Service Awards to 48 volunteers.

The crowning presentation of the evening was the awarding of the June Callwood Award to Rob Fleming. HGT was – and is – so very proud of all of those recognized for awards and certificates.
