Hospice Fundraising Dinner

October 14, 2009

Oh what a Night!! 192 supporters of Hospice Georgian Triangle gathered at the Georgian Manor Resort for an evening of information, good food and great entertainment.

Rebecca Wall & Ron Emo co-chairs welcomed everyone and brought incite into the workings of HGT. Following this informative speech Sharon Brownrigg presented the June Callwood Award of service to Karen Potts coordinator of our Rainbows programme. Karen's emotional speech made us all aware of the needed service that her programme provides to our community. There was not a dry eye in the crowd.

Bruce West as M.C. once again kept the evening rolling with his quick wit and friendly manner.

Annual General Meeting - 2009

The tasty dinner was followed by entertainer Tricia Kelly who came all the way from Los Angeles California, to perform for our supporters; and "perform" she did. Her magnificent voice warmed the room. As she cruised the room, stopping at guests to help her sing along; to her final impressions of Janis Joplin and Barbra Streisand, she seemed to have touched each guest in a personal way.

Merle Gottlieb our fundraising chair; thanked everyone for coming, as well as acknowledging our valued donors and sponsors. The fundraising committee; Maggie Cowan, Marj Glenday, Barb Pattison, Marlit Peirce, Bette Tkachuk and Jeannie Tsafaroff are to be commended for another successful evening.

At HGT there is a sparkling diamond amongst our many gems, her name is Karen Potts. Karen has been Director of our RAINBOWS' children’s bereavement program for the past 6 years.

As the Director, she listens to the woes and pain of these unraveled little lives and then helps them recognize and re-weave back into the supportive tapestry of community.

Strong and capable; humourous and empathetic; Karen embodies a wise woman and invaluable community resource. We know how blessed we are to have Karen. June Callwood would have loved her!! Congratulations Karen !!
