Annual General Meeting
June 24, 2009
Our annual general meeting was a great success this year. Donations presented by Tom Le Poidevin from the Cinema Club: $25,000.00, Councillor Kathy Jeffery from the Town of Collingwood: $10,000.00, and Robert Van Slyke from the Independent Order of Oddfellows #54: $5,000.00 - all helped to cement this area’s caring community support for HGT.

Our board members operated the business meeting within a tight timeframe; Dr. Kate McLachlin, our guest speaker, gave a timely, inspirational address of personal experiences in palliative care; and no less than 34 HGT volunteers were recognized for 3, 5, 10 and 20 year service records. HGT is so very proud and blessed by all of the volunteers who give so much time and effort to our very ill clientele.

Volunteer Presentations
Gloria Kropf-Nafziger
May 20, 2009
Gloria Kropf-Nafziger MSW offered a ‘helping/healing’ seminar on Friday May 20, 2009 at Sunset Manor. Gloria’s focus was ‘Setting Boundaries’ : this was a requested topic from some of HGT’s new volunteers who found their personal boundaries ‘blur’ as they became more and more attached to their clients. Gloria offered her thoughts, counsel and teaching aids to the many HGT participants; and we in turn would like to thank Gloria for her wisdom and guidance in our Care for the Caregiver series.
Pop to Opera a Great Success!!
May 30, 2009
Everyone in attendance at a presentation held at the Gayety Theatre on May 30th 2009 was treated to a wonderful evening of Pop to Opera. Those who purchased preferred seating were also treated to a cocktail party held at the Blue Mountain Foundation of the Arts where hors d’oeuvres and drinks were served.
The art gallery had a wonderful exhibit, which was an added bonus. The variety of songs by tenors Andrea Garofalo and Anthony Macri and soprano Lilac Cana thrilled the audience.
This is the first time that HGT has sponsored live opera in Collingwood and the response and enthusiasm for this fundraiser was very gratifying. The support of our sponsors and volunteers helped us raise over $7,000.00 for HGT.
Annual Fundraising Dinner
October 15, 2008
The Annual Dinner on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 raised over $20,000 for Hospice Georgian Triangle. A rockin' dining room, a gourmet meal, hilarious entertainment, a cheque presentation from the Wasaga Beach Mayor, as well as the June Callwood Medal presentation made this a night well worth attending.
Loads of thanks go to our Fund-raising Chair Merle Gottlieb; her busy-bee roster of volunteers included Maggie Cowan, Marge Glenday, Barbara Pattison, Marlit Peirce, Bette Tkachuk and Jeanne Tsafaroff sure helped to make this unique night a unique and seamless event for all.
Lorraine Lowe graciously accepted the June Callwood Medal for Volunteer Excellence and spoke to the healing work her and her Bereavement Facilitators effect for grieving adults in the Georgian Triangle. Congratulations to this wonderful woman for all she does for others and for Hospice GT. Read More »
