Royal LePage / Hospice Ski Day

February 7, 2008

The Royal LePage ski day held on February 7, 2008 was well attended in spite of the BIG storm we had the night before our event. Alpine Ski Club hills were beautifully groomed and ski and snowshoer's had a wonderful day. The abundance of fabulous raffle prizes, as well as silent auction items, kept everyone busy selecting their desired treasures.

Continental Breakfast upon arrival, as well as a great lunch was enjoyed by all. The "Eh Train" Band kept everyone hopping during the après ski buffet.

We were able to raise $16,646.00 for Hospice. A huge Thank You to Vel Ivardi and his wonderful staff, and our tireless volunteer committee. The donors and sponsors who gave so generously also contributed to the success of this event. Many thanks to those who bought tickets in support of all the services that Hospice Georgian Triangle provides to our community.

Rural Hospice in South Georgian Bay

For many years Hospice Georgian Triangle has provided services to our clients in the home, or respite care in our suite at Sunset Manor in Collingwood. In the past year, because of the growth in the south Georgian Bay area, we began to evaluate the opportunity to establish a long term residential facility for those persons dealing with a terminal illness. This facility would have a 6-10 bed capacity and capable of providing end of life care.

At this time we are preparing a detailed business case to present to our Local Health Integrated Network partner (LHIN) as part of their overall strategy to establish a number of rural hospices throughout the province. An integral part of this plan will be to establish close linkages with local hospitals and other partners in the health care system. We will also need to embark on a major fundraising campaign to raise sufficient funds to secure an appropriate building, as well as to fund a portion of the operating costs.

We will provide regular updates on this website as our program moves forward.

Annual Fundraising Dinner

October 17, 2007

Hospice Georgian Triangle's 13th Annual Fundraising dinner was held on October 17th 2007 at the Georgian Manor resort.

The "sold out" audience of 205 guests enjoyed a wonderful dinner, beautifully decorated ballroom and were amazed and entertained by Chris Linn comedian/magician.

We raised over $17,000.00 which will be used to support our ongoing services and aid in the establishment of a residential hospice for the Georgian Triangle. We are grateful to the community for their support as well as the support of our sponsors:
